The Old Stone House Museum
(Brownington, VT) Built by Alexander Twilight, the country's first black college graduate and a U.S. Legislator. Offers excellent exhibits and displays to give you a sense of the region's unique rural history.
Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium
(St. Johnsbury, Vermont) Inviting galleries filled with an array of the world's wonders. Vermont's only public planetarium and an extensive natural science collection.
Vermont Corn Maze & Science Center (North Danville, VT) - explore this dairy farm and five-acre maze to discover hidden secrets and picnic in the wildflowers.
Maple Grove Farms of Vermon t (St. Johnsbury, VT) - learn all about maple sugaring, Vermont's first industry, tour the factory and sample superb maple products.
The nearby Sugarmill Farm and Maple Museum (Barton, VT) also offers self-guided tours of the museum, a beautiful maple orchard and sugarhouse. The farm uses the same syrup used in Ben & Jerry's Maple Walnut Ice Cream.
Bread & Puppet Museum (Glover, Vermont) - hundreds of puppets and masks in a 100-year-old, 100' barn with shows offered in late August and September.
Cabot Creamery (Cabot, VT) - learn about the magic of cheese making and the award-winning varieties of Cabot cheeses.
Stephen Huneck's Gallery at Dog Mountain (St. Johnsbury, Vermont) - visit this world-renowned, eccentric destination to view the pet cemetery, dog chapel, an eight-acre wildflower garden and a bronze sculpture garden (as seen on The Late Show with David Letterman).
Innsider's Tip : A must see is the Bread & Puppet Museum in Glover, Vermont (about a ½ hour drive from the Inn). Here you may tour the 100 year old refurbished barn to view the world's largest collection of gigantic puppets. In the summer, the theme usually involves political satire and includes theatrical puppet performances, live music, guest speakers, exhibits and poetry.
