Dining in the Northeast Kingdom
Vermont's Northeast Kingdom is a region famous for its home-baked pies, sweets and breads. Dairy products, wild game, herbs and garden vegetables also find their way into local kitchens.
While you're out adventuring, there's sure to be a country store nearby. How about a fresh cup of Vermont coffee and a scrumptious cinnamon bun big enough for two to be found at Kerrigan's Market in West Burke.
If you're in the Island Pond area, stop into Clay's Place for casual dining at great prices. A perfect stop after a day of fishing, hunting or ski-dooing.
Save room for Carmen's ice cream after a wonderful dinner at The Lyndon Freighthouse. They were named by the “Sundae Hall of Fame” as one of America’s top 500 sundae places.
For dinner with an unusual view, head to the Cow Palace in Derby. Elk burgers are their specialty on the menu and just out back you can visit the herd.
